Event Producer Danny Kapilian said, "It is amazing and wondrous to present this, the fifteenth season of the BAM R&B Festival. It is not only another complete season of great free live performances, but it continues to
break new ground in its artistic scope. For summer 2009, the BAM R&B Festival features another wide-ranging variety of great performers who have never played the Festival before.

Included will be classic soul (Lakeside, Kindred the Family Soul), New Orleans funk legends Rebirth Brass Band, new generation R&B (Simone, Anthony David, Toshi Reagon), thrilling Latin jazz (Spanish Harlem Orchestra), top-name contemporary African song and rhythms (Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Rokia Traore), and New Orleans R&B legend Allen Toussaint. This festival remains a gem—New York's only R&B festival and one of the finest free outdoor concert festivals anywhere."
