![]() "Totally Baked: A Pot-u-Mentary"Theatrical premiere: April 20 at 4:20 pm ![]() ![]() This looks like it's at least a 6-foot bong. It definitely requires two people to get a decent hit out of this thing. ![]() Okay honestly, this is no worse than asking your kids to fetch your beer from the fridge. ![]() There is nothing better than a cozy nap after a heavy smoking sesh. Comedian Franklyn Ajaye feels so comforted by his bong that he snuggles with in lieu of a teddy bear. ![]() If you replaced the pot smoking in this scene with cocktails, their harmless gathering would be perfectly legal. He was conflicted about how to respond: as a father who values honesty he didn't want to lie, but he also didn't want to taint his young son's mind by introducing the concept of getting high. Shoemaker's reflections on this subject led to questions regarding the truth about marijuana and why it is stigmatized as an illegal drug, while alcohol is not. The research yielded plenty of answers--enough to fill a feature-length film. This "Pot-u-Mentary" is Craig's answer to his son, although (based on the R-rated material) it looks like it will be several years till he can see it. "Totally Baked: A Pot-U-Mentary" is a comedy, slated to be viewed by millions of very giggly viewers on April 20th (4/20 is pot-smokers code for marijuana) at 4:20 pm in theaters, comedy clubs, private parties or by going online. And anyone who smokes pot knows that the numbers 420 aren't just a code for weed but a call to smoke in general. For example, when it is 4:20 p.m., you smoke, when it's April 20, you smoke--420 is never used in place of the word weed or pot but instead it acts as a sort of calling for all smokers to smoke. In a way, it's kind of like how certain religions pray at a certain time or day--pot smokers smoke on or at the sacred 420. It's a brilliant marketing scheme if you think about it because many pot smokers consider April 20 a holiday and observe it as such. Some go as far to request the day off from work. So planning a release of this film on April 20 at 4:20 pm really hones in on a kind of "smokers-unite" event. The "Pot-u-Mentary" brings a new perspective to the age-old questions "Should the weed be free?" Ensemble cast members Stephen Toboloqsky, Danny Nucci, Roma Maffia, Time Bagley and some of the best actors and comics in America bring the laughs through a collection of satires, real-life inverviews and stand up comedy bits and songs, intertwined with a fictional story that drives the narrative of the film. It's a politically charged yet informative film--"a Teach and Chong," if you will. The film neither condemns nor condones pot smoking but simply asks the questions, in the process exploring the truth about marijuana. Should Marijuana be legalized? If so, why? If not, why not? "Totally Baked" encourages its viewers to have more than just an opinion on the legalization of weed, but an educated perspective. The film has already inspired debates and heated conversations following a screening at the Austin Film Festival. Marijuana connoisseurs, indie film buffs and comedy fans already hip to the trend are pre-purchasing DVDs through the website, gearing up to host private parties, especially in cities without theatrical releases. An online pay-per-view screening will also be available to those who couldn't order the DVD in time for 4/20. Please check www.420history.com for updates on local screening times.
