For Cine Fest Petrobras Brasil, having Petrobras as the title sponsor has as a main objective to promote the formation of new audiences and to increase the visibility of the Brazilian culture in the United States. Between August 5th and the 12th, the Tribeca Cinemas will host the Cine Fest Petrobras Brasil, planned and produced by the Inffinito Group. Brazilian filmmakers, actors and producers will be at the world’s cultural capital to show the most recent Brazilian cinematographic productions. Approximately 30 movies will be showed during the six days of competitive screening, from August 6th to 11th. The competitive screenings will occur at the Tribeca Cinemas with multiple daily sessions. Every night after the screening, the public and guests of the festival, including actors, producers and directors, will be welcomed to the Petrobras Lounge, designed especially for the event, for an afterparty. The Closing Night will take place on August 12th at The New School’s Tishman Auditorium with Vanessa da Mata´s "Homage." The Brazilian singer, listed as one the most prominent artists of new generation of Brazilian popular musicians, counts with numerous hits and more than 250 compositions. As a special tribute this year, producer and director Roberto Farias, one of the most renowned names in the Brazilian cinema, will be the honoree of the V Cine Fest Petrobras Brasil during a ceremony at the UN Building. In almost 50 years of career, Roberto directed unforgettable movies such as "Cidade Ameaçada," "Assault on the Pay Train" and "Selva Trágica." The screening of the documentary "No Reason Explains Wars," by Cacá Diegues and Rafael Dragaud will follow the tribute, as well as a cocktail for guests and the participation of the musical group AfroReggae. |
