Brooklyn Rider
The multi-faceted string quartet Brooklyn Rider is becoming increasingly well known for its creative programming of a wide and inclusive range of music. The group is as dedicated to exploring the world of Haydn as it is the music of our own time.

The members of the quartet are Johnny Gandelsman (violin), Colin Jacobsen (violin), Nicholas Cords (viola), and Eric Jacobsen (cello). Brooklyn Rider has played in venues as varied as Joe’s Pub in NYC, Todai-ji Temple in Japan, and the Petronas Towers in Malaysia. Wishing to use the rich medium of the string quartet as a vehicle for borderless communication, all of the musicians have enjoyed diverse careers in music that have intersected over many years.

On June 16 at the Baryshnikov Arts Center, the quartet will offer a typically eclectic program including music by Glass and Piazzolla, as well as Finnish folk tunes, plus original works by their frequent collaborator Christina Courtin. Admission is free. For more information, visit bacny.org or phone 917-934-4966.
