The New York Festival of Song (NYFOS) has been dedicated, for 20 years, to creating a unique intimate environment combining elements of music, poetry, history, and humor to create an unparalled majestic experience. Since its creation in 1988 by renown pianists Michael Barrett and Steven Blier, the NYFOS  has explored a myriad range of influences, transcending language, culture, and time.

This year the NYFOS presents "No Song is Safe From Us," a musical adventure that encompasses four musical genres including, art song, songs by contemporary American composers, Latin song from the Iberian Penninsula to Cuba and South American, and American popular song. The evening showcases highlights from four past NYFOS concerts, "Latin Lovers" (Latin song), "Since the Seventies" (contemporary American songs), "Songs of the Midnight Sun" (art song, Scandinavian), and "Songs of Peace and War" (popular song).

Influences this year include well-known artists such as Heitor Villa-Lobos, Wilhelm Stenhammar, Eduardo Toldra, Marc Blitzstein, Leonard Bernstein, Jean Sbelius, Bob Dylan, and Randy Newman.

The NYFOS featured artists are sopranos Michelle Areyzaga and Jennifer Alymer, tenor Javier Abreu, baritone William Sharp, and eight students from the Julliard School's  Vocal Art's Department, with Steve Blier and Michael Barrett at the piano.
