The Chiara String QuartetJune 28 & 29, 2007 ![]() The Chiara String Quartet (L to R): Jonah Sirota, viola; Julie Yoon, violin; Gregory Beaver, cello; and Rebecca Fischer, violin The Quartet is a contemporary group who works their way though clubs and sells albums to a growing number of fans, who are both committed purveyors of modern chamber music and music buffs who are new to the genre. Chiara (key-ARE-uh) is an Italian word, meaning "clear, pure, or light." Recently named the Blodgett Artists-in-Residence at Harvard University, the group was also granted with the Guarneri Quartet Residency Award for artistic excellence by Chamber Music America. In addition to performing in concert halls such as Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall, the American Academy in Rome, Philadelphia's Kimmel Center, and Harris Hall in Aspen, Colorado, the Chiara devotes much of its performance season to reaching new audiences through concerts in non-classical venues. This will be a repeat performance for The Quartet at Caffe Vivaldi, and the group has also played all around the country in clubs like Kansas City's The Brick, Houston's Mucky Duck and Chicago's The Hideout--among many others. In 2007 the Chiara released a recording of the Mozart and Brahms clarinet quintets with clarinetist Hkan Rosengren for Round Top Records. The group is currently recording the complete string quartets of Brahms for SMS Classical.
