Drew Goren took many photographs including several bands such as Radiohead, Sum 41 and the Flaming Lips. Above is a photo of Langhorne Slim who will be playing at Goren's memorial concert.
In honor of the famed young photographer Drew Goren, who passed away on December 19th, 2006, several Brooklyn and NYC bands such as The GoStation and Langhorne Slim will take the stage at the Luna Lounge on June 30th.

All proceeds from the show will be donated directly to the Drew Goren Memorial Fund which was established for Drew's 5-year-old daughter Nina, and her mother, Julia.

The full slate of bands slated to to perform are The Shrubs, The Wooden Hills, Sikamor Rooney, The GoStation, Neckbeard Telecaster and Langhorne Slim.

Over the course of his all-too-brief career, Drew befriended many artists, both through his professional work, and through his genuine and irresistible personality. His photography exhibited an eye for the intagible and managed to use existing light to create an incredible effect. Even while shooting in a dark and dingy bathroom or at an ill-lit club, he managed to capture images with great exposure and portrayed the soul of every situation, room, person and moment.

After only a short time of taking pictures he created an impressive porfolio of some of the most iconic artists in music, such as Radiohead, Sonic Youth, and Modest Mouse. In addition, his personal and documentry portraits of friends and family, were magical, especially those of his beautiful daughter, Nina, who was undoubtedly his favorite subject.

In March of 2005, the unimaginable news that Drew had stage IV cancer at the young age of 31 came as a huge shock. Yet, still Drew continued to work through the last year and half, almost harder then ever. He often squeezed photo shoots inbetween chemo sessions.

And although it began to get painful for him to even walk his subjects were never even aware of his disease; he always preferred they not make allowances. Drew worked because he loved photography, not because he had to.

Come on out to help raise funds for Drew's family and check out a bunch of New York's top rock bands!
