Mezzo-soprano Kelley O’Connor makes her New York recital debut with pianist Cheryl Lin Fielding on Friday, January 18 at 7:30 p.m. in Weill Recital Hall. Ms. O’Connor’s program includes lieder by Brahms, Hahn, and Wolf as well as Cinco canciónes negras by Spanish composer Xavier Montsalvatge and selections from William Bolcom’s Cabaret Songs. Ms. O’Connor, who created the role of Federico García Lorca in Osvaldo Golijov's Ainadamar, returns to Carnegie Hall on May 15 as soloist in Peter Lieberson’s Neruda Songs with conductor Bernard Haitink and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

Grammy Award-winning mezzo-soprano Kelley O'Connor has received international critical acclaim for her performances as Federico García Lorca in Osvaldo Golijov's Ainadamar. Ms. O'Connor created this role for the world premiere at Tanglewood under the direction of Robert Spano and has also performed the work with Miguel Harth-Bedoya and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In 2006, Deutsche Grammophon released a recording of Ainadamar, with Ms. O'Connor, Dawn Upshaw, and Jessica Rivera singing the principal roles with the Atlanta Symphony Chorus and Orchestra, conducted by Mr. Spano. In the current season, she will perform the role of Federico García Lorca at Opera Boston, the Adelaide Festival of Arts, the Barbican Centre, and with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra.

During the 2007–2008 season, Ms. O’Connor’s engagements include performances with the San Francisco, National, Dallas, and Atlanta symphonies; the Los Angeles Philharmonic; and the Santa Fe Opera. Ms. O’Connor has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern California and received her Master’s degree from UCLA, where she studied with Nina Hinson.
