Ms. O'Connor created this role for the world premiere at Tanglewood under the direction of Robert Spano and has also performed the work with Miguel Harth-Bedoya and the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In 2006, Deutsche Grammophon released a recording of Ainadamar, with Ms. O'Connor, Dawn Upshaw, and Jessica Rivera singing the principal roles with the Atlanta Symphony Chorus and Orchestra, conducted by Mr. Spano. In the current season, she will perform the role of Federico García Lorca at Opera Boston, the Adelaide Festival of Arts, the Barbican Centre, and with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. During the 2007–2008 season, Ms. O’Connor’s engagements include performances with the San Francisco, National, Dallas, and Atlanta symphonies; the Los Angeles Philharmonic; and the Santa Fe Opera. Ms. O’Connor has a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Southern California and received her Master’s degree from UCLA, where she studied with Nina Hinson. |
