His career began studying classical music. After his encounter with Jazz he started taking classes with some great teachers such as Franco D'Andrea, Rita Marcotulli, Enrico Pieranunzi. Now Marco Di Gennaro performs live in Italy and all over the world, participating to international festivals such as the European Jazz Festival and Umbria Jazz. He has played with, among others, Peter Bernstein, Quincy Davis, Lee Konitz,Amii Stewart, and Roberto Gatto. He has published the live CD "Listen… Silent" (Dodicilune Ediz.), featuring Lee Konitz, 2002, the DVD "Factotum - Collector's Edition" (with Italian actor Alessandro Haber, 2006), and the CD "Closer" (YVP 3143 - YVP Music - 2007, featuring Peter Bernstein, Joseph Lepore, and Quincy Davis). Born in 1967 in New York City, guitarist Peter Bernstein has been part of the jazz scene in New York and abroad since 1989. He has participated to over 60 recordings and several festivals, concerts and club performances with musicians from all generations. As a leader, Peter has made live recordings for the Criss Cross Jazz label. The latest, Heart's Content, features the all-star rhythm section of Brad Mehldau, Larry Grenadier, and Bill Stewart. Peter regularly plays with Dr.Lonnie Smith, the legendary organist who was introduced on the George Benson "Cookbook" album. He has recorded live CDs with organist Melvin Rhyne, known for his association with Wes Montgomery. In addition, Peter has appeared in groups led by Nicholas Payton, Lee Konitz, Tom Harrell, and Eric Alexander. Peter has taught at the Juilliard School, Berklee College of Music, North Texas State University, the New School Jazz Program and the Jazz Conservatory in Amsterdam. |
