Barbara Brussell debuts in "Out of the Mouth Babes"
Barbara Brussell debuts her new show, "Out of the Mouth Babes" combining works of women: they wrote it, they sang it, they said it. Powerful and empowering, wildly witty and wise women who made hits and history, including works by classic and contemporary writers: Dorothy Fields, Carolyn Leigh, Dorothy Parker, Dory Previn, Carol Hall, Lynn Ahrens, Carole King, Joni MItchell, Laura Nyro and more.

"Barbara Brussell epitomizes the art of cabaret singing...a consummate singer/actress. She doesn't just sing (a song), she inhabits it," says BackStage's Roy Sander. On her debut engagement at the Algonquin Hotel's Oak Room, Stephen Holden of The New York Times stated, "...An utterly distinctive voice...Her dramatic instincts give every word a purposeful intention...The California Dreamer and the New York sophisticate join hands." Rex Reed of The New York Observer wrote, "In a cabaret world...Barbara Brussell is a dream come true."

A 1997 recipient of a BackStage Bistro Award and seven time MAC Award nominee, Barbara was listed in the Top Ten female vocalists of 1999 and 2000 on the New York cabaret scene, in both Theater Mania and In Theater Magazine. She has performed in major cabaret rooms in New York City and around the country. A CD recording of her critically acclaimed show, Patterns, ranked "One of the year's Top Ten Best," by In Theater Magazine, 1998.
