But more than anything, The Von Ehrics songs recall sped-up, fuzzed-out versions of straight-up country tunes by legends such as Steve Earle, John Prine and Merle Haggard. Their lyrics are about whiskey, women, the road, and not much more--but then, what more do you really need when toting a bottle of Jack and stomping around a rock club in Brooklyn? You can catch the Dallas-based rockers in Brooklyn for two consecutive nights of their tour, as they promote their raucous new release for Charlotte-based indie label Rocket 13 Records. On Saturday, April 14 The Von Ehrics will play at Hank's Saloon on 3rd Ave., with a start time slated for 9 pm. Also on the bill are Uncle Leon & The Alibis (10 pm), Brunch of the Living Dead (11 pm) and Al Duvall (12 midnight). Then on Sunday, April 15 they will be at Trash Bar in Williamsburg, also at 9 pm. Rounding out the bill at Trash Bar are Desoto Rust (10 pm), Dared the Knot (11 pm) and Madison Project at midnight. myspace.com/thevonehrics
