 Lauren Ambrose, best known from "Six Feet Under," takes on the role of Juliet in "Romeo and Juliet" in Shakespeare in the Park.  Oscar Isaac, who played Joseph in "The Nativity Story" stars in his second Shakespeare in the Park production as Romeo.  The stage of the Delacorte Theater, located in Central Park.  The popularity for free Shakespeare in the Park tickets makes for long lines for when the tickets are released at 1pm.  "Romeo and Juliet," the statue outside of "Romeo and Juliet," the show. Lauren Ambrose of TV's "Six Feet Under" and Oscar Isaac of Shakespeare in the Park's revival of "Two Gentlemen of Verona" are starring in the Public Theater's production of "Romeo and Juliet," currently in production at the Delacorte Theater. Ambrose is joined onstage by another TV vet, Camryn Manheim as the Nurse. This is the "Summer of Love" season for the long-running free theater event, as it will be followed up by "A Midsummer Night's Dream" from August to September.
"Romeo and Juliet" is one of the best known and well loved of the Bard’s plays. The famous young star-crossed lovers Romeo Montague and Juliet Capulet fall in love despite the ongoing feud between their two noble families. Their impassioned love is forced to endure the greatest of tests. Tragically, they are only united in the end through death.
Pick up your free Shakespeare in the Park tickets on the day of the performance beginning at 1pm at The Delacorte Theater in Central Park or from 1 to 3pm at The Public Theater Box Office at 425 Lafayette Street. Get there early!
There will be an open caption performance of Romeo and Juliet on Saturday, July 7. There will be a Hands On performance Sunday, July 1.
