The Players Theatre 115 MacDougal St. 212-352-3101 theplayerstheatre.com  Kyle Bradstreet's "A Story from Abeyance"  Jerrod Bogard's"In Sheep's Clothing" Having had such great success with the first Shortened Attention Span Festival in June, which presented 20 plays under 20 minutes each by 18 different authors, Producers Carlo Rivieccio and Christy Benanti are back for a second go-around at the concept of short, in-your-face, theater productions. Now, The Players Theatre presents the Shortened Attention Span Horror Festival. The terror begins on October 11th and will continue through October 28th at The Players Loft (115 MacDougal Street) in Greenwich Village. This iteration of the festival will present 18 plays running under 30 minutes each. Each week the audience will select a favorite, with the three winning short horror plays to be presented in the 199-seat Players Theatre on Halloween, October 31st. In conjunction with the festival, "Merging" by Messina, who previously directed the hit Off-Broadway show "Mercury: The Afterlife and Times of a Rock God and Cirgue Jacqueline," will be shown as a limited engagement. The cast includes former "Sopranos" star Jason Cerbone, known popularly as Jackie Aprile Jr. "Merging" will play on week 3 of the festival as well as a special performance on Oct. 31st. The performance schedule for the (Oct. 11th-28th) Shortened Attention Span Horror Festival is Thursdays through Saturday at 8 pm, with matinees on Sundays at 3 pm. $17 tickets are available through theatermania.com.
