How to get the Smoky Eye Look For Fall 2011 and Nights Out Using Over the Counter Budget Conscious Products

If you keep up with fashion and beauty the way that I do, you know that staying on trend with the latest and hottest is not an inexpensive calling. Every season we are seeing new trends take off and you can find yourself panting "I want that, I want that!!"

Well, we also know that this economy is crud right now. Looking at the Chanel Parisian runway, (which is always amazing) and that classic goddess like smoky look on the models, I sneered and said to myself...I can do that. And so can you ladies, for a lot less than you would think. All it takes is the proper tools (make-up brushes) and the proper eye shadows.

Especially if you're new to messing around with eye make-up, you'll find that the fuss and bother of using creams and blending can be not just messy but extremely expensive. Getting the original Chanel look using their products would cost well over $200. My version will give you the ability to play around with different versions of the fall always gorgeous smoky eye using pops of vibrant color. Or, you could opt for doing the understated and effortlessly goddess-like version. Remember though that when you are playing up your eyes, you want to keep a soft lip. Either a matte lip like the Chanel show or a nice simple gloss like my version below will do well. Draw attention to one part of your make-up and let that steal the show. There are a lot of ways to mix and match and your eye make-up here; go bold or soften it up. You choose.

I recommend that you have a few different brushes to achieve the look. Great brushes to use that are super cheap are Elf brushes. (Eyes Lips Face) They are sold in many stores for a dollar per brush. Use a blending smoky eye smudge brush, an angled brush, a regular eyeshadow brush and a blending brush to get the look. You can also use your fingers when using the High Def deep shadows to get the perfect blended effect that you seek.

The best shadows to use (besides some of the awesome department store brands like Mac and Chane)l in my opinion are from the Loreal HIP line. These deep pigment shadows are a great bargain and they deliver bright and deep color without creasing. A little bit go a long way for sure and you can find great bargains on make up when shopping online, in example, drugstore.com who always has popular make-up brands on sale.

Begin my using the angled eyeshadow brush to apply from the innermost corner of your eyelid (toward the bridge of your nose), using the lightest color. A shimmer of gold or silver will go well here. Sweep over your eyelid and move on to the next color you want to use. Like I said before you can use a host of colors, so it's up to you. The smokiness will come in under the eye and right at the base of the eyelid as we go back over it with a darker color.

Use another eyeshadow brush and sweep the middle of your eye with color. You aren't going to use the brush to do color along the top of your eyelid (right under the brown). You are going to blend the colors that you have.

Now, using the blending smoky eye brush, wet the tip a little bit and apply under your eye like an eyeliner and also on the outer lid of the eye. Blend slightly so that the light sparkly color is blending into the darker color. The bottom of your eyes should have a nice smoky look to them already. Then you are going to use the blending brush to continue and blend until you get the perfect effect.

Like I said before, you can go a lot of different ways here and come up with some great ways of wearing the smoky eye- from day to night. Some of my favorites in the L'oreal HIP line are the gorgeous Electrified, which is a light shimmery silver and bright purple, Darling, the very subtle yet beautiful shimmer gold and bronze base brown, Platinum which is a very deep silver (a little goes a long way here) and a kohl black with embedded sparkle, Showy which is a delicious shimmer blue and a darker shade of blue side by side. These are superb fall colors. The last pick for the season is Wicked which is a soft but deep plum and gold shimmer duo.

Apply my techniques and you will come out with the perfect smoky eye that works for you. Match it to your outfits and make it your own unique style. Own it girl...work that smoky eye!
