![]() Anne Flourney has been making movies for twenty years. She was one of the first risqué filmmakers shooting shorts in an era predating viral video's and YouTube celebrities and is currently going stronger than ever before. Flourney is the producer, director, editor and writer of the successful comedy web series The Louise Log. It is a funny, quirky and lighthearted take on life through the eyes of Louise, an NYC house wife and mom who is a bit insecure, a little heavy on the coffee and is forever in-tune with her slightly overactive inner voice that is with her for the better and for the worse. When Anne started, she did not get much notoriety for and her work did not enter the mass market just then. Her incredibly awesome short Louise Smells A Rat - a retro era based spy story did not make a cent but it did get invited to the New York Film Festival. Despite the profitless outcome, Anne realized that she was on to something creatively and never gave up on her dream of being a film maker. Flourney kept working hard at her projects while maintaining a day job. Her shorts continued getting recognition but did not generate profit or present consistent work opportunities. Nadja Yet was reviewed by Variety where they called the film "a nine minute show-stopper". Her hopes were fueled by positive feedback but reality was that she still could not turn short films into a long career. How to be Louise was invited to Sundance and seemed to have finally ignited the spark she needed to make it in the industry. Alas due to a few mixed reviews the film that generated so much buzz abroad and given 3 stars by the New York Post, did not open the doors Anne needed. Anne continued to make films while holding down a job and raising her kids. Life kept on as usual but time has changed many things over the years. The rise of the Internet also spanned the birth of viral videos and in turn short films. A new generation of filmmakers entered the industry and a slew of veteran directors attempted at shorts as well. Anne finally got the chance to do what she has always wanted. The Louise Log is a series starting Christine Cook who plays Louise, a woman dealing with her husband, kids, an elaborate ensemble of notable characters, and her incredibly evident, completely prevalent and humorously overactive inner voice. Unlike many other series where the audience is left in the dark, The Louise Log lets us peek directly into the thought processes of the main character and that is the very gem of the show. The audience experiences the show from a deeply involved internal perspective. The series chronicles Louise's experiences and adventures as an erratic housewife in NYC. The cast features many amazing actors and actresses aside from Christine who deserve praise in their own right. The cast and premise of the show is by far more creative and interesting than the housewives of reality TV spin offs that we have had too many off. Louise brings back the interest in NYC housewives in a clever, witty and by far more engaging way that does not make the audience cringe. Episodes like " How to Welcome a Witch Doctor" and " How to Cope with Your Inner Cat" are laugh out loud funny. For Anne the web marked a new beginning, it was the right time for her projects to become realized and being a woman of opportunity she tried again. Currently The Louise Log is experiencing success that Anne has dreamt about for years. Check out her site for The Louise Log and other previous projects.
