New York International Latino Film Festival Winners Announced  E-mail

The New York International Film Festival wrapped up Sunday evening with an awards ceremony that honored the directors and producers of the winning films.

More than 30 features were shown throughout the six-day festival, only five films were recognized during the closing ceremony at Clearview Chelsea Cinemas, along with the HBO/NYILFF Short Film Competition winner.

The winners included:

Best Domestic Feature -- "Under My Nails"

Best International Feature -- "El Rumor De Las Piedras" (The Rumble of the Stones)

Best Director -- Alejandro Bellame Palacios for "El Rumor De Las Piedras"

Best Documentary -- "El Médico: The Cubatón Story"

Best Short -- "Pescadora"

The winner of the HBO/NYILFF Short Film Competition, Carmen Peláez's "The Acting Lesson," took home the biggest prize of the festival -- a $15,000 cash reward.
