As a Chinese holiday gift to NYC, the show is a pageant of more than 300 dancers and musicians who perform a variety of acts ranging from ethnic Chinese folk dances to royal ensembles, a full orchestra and a drum finale. The show will be broadcast on New Tang Dynasty Television, a network established by Chinese living here and throughout the world. Headquartered in NYC, NTDTV has reporters and correspondents in over 50 cities around the world. NTDTV also puts on a Chinese New Year show every February at Radio City Music Hall; with its gorwing success they decided to put on a Christmas show during the same season. Employing the same quality of presentation and performers, this version is on a smaller scale than the Radio City show. Although both the United States and China are many miles apart and are literally on opposite sides of the earth, they share many common values that are emerge during the holiday season. Most people around the world believe in the importance of celebrating with family, gift-giving to our loved ones, and having a good meal to top it all off—those three things are equally shared between the Chinese and Americans. But it’s not just values shared between the Chinese and USA but are in common with most cultures throughout the world. It's just that during the holiday season, shows like this one accentuate the commonality and joy. Hopefully this can be expressed moreso throughout the year. Blending the divine charm of the East with the holiday spirit of the West, there are performances that aren't only Asian in origin but range from classic European ballet to theatrical Chinese dances, and are all introduced in both English and Chinese. This celebration of our shared values truly brings the spirit of the season to life. |
