![]() After several sold out shows in August and September, Bistro Award winner Jeff Macauley brings his tribute to the lyrics of Norman Gimbel, "It Was Me," back to Don't Tell Mama for three Sundays in October, the 7th, 21st and 28th at 7:00pm. Details below. Jeff Macauley won the Backstage Bistro Award for his tribute to the most popular female singer of the 40's and a beloved Hollywood icon in "MWAH! The Dinah Shore Show." For Macauley's new look at the extensive popular music catalog of Norman Gimbel he has enlisted the musical direction of the creative pianist Tex Arnold, who also wrote the arrangements, and Jon Burr on bass. Norman Gimbel wrote some of the most recognizable and best-loved lyrics of the last half-century, and won an Oscar for "It Goes Like It Goes" from Norma Rae. In a career that dates back to the early '50s, Mr. Gimbel, working with such composers as Charles Fox, Michel Legrand, David Shire and Antonio Carlos Jobim, gave words to such standards as "Meditation," "Sway," "The Girl From Ipanema," "I Will Wait For You," "Killing Me Softly With His Song," and "Bluesette," as well as the themes to Wonder Woman, Laverne & Shirley and Happy Days. Macauley explored the rich world of early musical films in another well received show, "Hollywood Party--Movie Songs 1928-1934." "Jeff was just terrific...in a 60's tux, looking terribly Madmen, it was a unique evening of the lyrics of Norman Gimbel...I know...look him up...and then you'll see why this was SUCH a delight!" – Andrea Marcovicci Jeff Macauley: It Was Me – The Lyrics of Norman Gimbel For more Times Square articles like Bistro Award Winner Jeff Macauley Brings his Tribute to the Lyrics of Norman Gimbel, please visit the Music Features Section of TimesSquare.com PLUS- Follow us on Facebook.com/TimesSquareTwitter.com/eTimesSquare & get a free copy of Times Square Magazine
