Give Me the Simple Life, out July 17 on Miles High Records, was produced by Todd Barkan and features Alterman with bassist James Cammack, drummer Herlin Riley and saxophonist Houston Person. As Marc Myers says in the liner notes: "As an NYU freshman, Joe wrote The First Night Home with hopes one day of playing the song with Houston. 'I still can't believe it came true,' Joe said. That's what happens when you've got what it takes."
