| Feline Fascinations |
 The birthday cat, Matilda and her handler  The Birthday girl's cake--encrusted with faux kitty litter (actually crushed mixed nuts!)  One of the feline fashionistas--eyes aglow Inside the famed Round Table Restaurant, over 100 guests enjoyed hors d’oeurves and wine and mingled with Matilda while eagerly awaiting the start of a fabulous cat fashion show. Kitty lovers and hotel patrons alike curiously curled around the room to catch a glimpse of the fluffy, costume-clad fashion show participants. There was a wizard, a princess, and even a Maine Coon Elvis. But all the attention was really on the white-haired, blue-eyed birthday girl, Matilda. The Ragdoll who started her career as a show cat and was named 2006 cat of the year at the Westchester Cat Show, basks in the glory of being center of attention at her once-a-year gala. After the fashion show, candles were lit on the cake and the room filled with a melodious “Happy Birthday” as Matilda looked on from arms of a handler. When the singing stopped, she wiggled her way onto the floor where she continued to prance prissily about amongst numerous onlookers. The party, which was also a charity event for North Shore Animal League, featured “Matilda’s” and “Purr-tini’s” on sale inside and a mobile adoption unit out front. Overall, seven cats and one dog were adopted making for a party that was not only fun but also valuable for Matilda’s furry friends in need of a home.
