The 2007 Drama Desk nominations came in on April 26th with an announcement held at the Friars Club, hosted by Beth Leavel and James Naughton. Unlike the prestigious Tony Awards [view nominations here], which honor only Broadway productions, The Drama Desk Awards go to productions from Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Off-Off-Broadway.

The most overall nominations went to a new musical, Manhattan Theatre Club's "LoveMusik," with 12 total nods. 10 nominations each went to the Broadway musicals "Curtains," "Legally Blonde," and "Spring Awakening," while Tom Stoppard's highly-regarded play "The Coast of Utopia" also received 10 nominations.

Kristin Chenoweth, who was nominated as Outstanding Actress in a Musical for "The Apple Tree," hosted the awards ceremony on May 20th at the F.H. LaGuardia Concert Hall. The Awards will be aired on television by PBS (May 27 at 12:30 pm) and NYCTV (May 24 at 8 pm and May 26 at 10 pm).

The awards were announced on May 20th, with the big winners being Tom Stoppard's "The Coast of Utopia" with 7 awards, including Best Play; and "Spring Awakening" which won for Best Musical along with three other awards. Outstanding Actor in a Play went to Frank Langella for "Frost/Nixon" and Eve Best from "A Moon for the Misbegotten" won for Outstanding Actress in a Play. The legendary Vanessa Redgrave, who starred in an adaptation of Joan Didion's memoir "The Year of Magical Thinking," won the Outstanding Solo Award, while Audra McDonald ("110 in the Shade") and Donna Murphy ("LoveMusik") tied for the Outstanding Actress in a Musical Award.

We were there at the nominees' cocktail reception at the Arte Cafe Restaurant on May 1st--and were also able to bring along our video crew to get a whole bunch of interviews with the nominees. Enjoy the video, and read below for a list of all the nominations and winners!
