Written by Michael Portantiere

One of Broadway's most successful musical revivals is sure to get an extra jolt at the box office now that Extra TV host and Dancing with the Stars finalist Mario Lopez is joining the super-talented cast of A Chorus Line at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, beginning Tuesday, April 15. Lopez will play Zach, the demanding director/choreographer who is casting the chorus roles for a new Broadway show. He will continue in the role through Sunday, September 7, with a hiatus from May 11 through June 3.

"Every actor dreams about appearing on a Broadway stage,” says Lopez. “A Chorus Line is a legendary musical, and I am so honored to have been chosen to join the amazing cast and be a part of the Broadway family."

Lopez first gained fame at age 16 with his role of high school jock A. C. Slater on the hit NBC comedy series Saved by the Bell. He can currently be seen as the host of Extra TV and MTV's Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew. A finalist in the third season of ABC-TV's hit reality series Dancing With the Stars, Lopez recently starred in the ABC Family movie Holiday in Handcuffs. His other TV credits include Husband for Hire, Pacific Blue, Nip/Tuck, The Bold and the Beautiful, and the title role in the Breaking the Surface: The Greg Louganis Story. Here are Michael Portantiere's photos of Lopez and the cast of A Chorus Line in rehearal at the Schoenfeld Theatre on Friday, April 11.
