With a reputation as one of the country's pre-eminent regional theaters, the Bay Street Theatre gives theater-loving New Yorkers a reason to make the trip out to Long Island. Situated on Long Wharf in Sag Harbor, the theater has premiered or helped to develop many shows that have gone on to Broadway success and international fame.

With the Hamptons summer season in full swing, we headed out to the June 16th opening night of Rebecca Lenkiewicz's "The Night Season." Directed by Lonny Price and featuring stars such as Kellie Overbey, Katherine Helmond, Richard Short and Michael O'Keefe, this American premiere was a huge success with the audience. Celebrity attendees included actors/spouses Eli Wallach and Anne Jackson, and world-famous stage designer Tony Walton, whose daughter, Emma, co-founded the Bay Street Theatre.

About "The Night Season": It’s late at night. A shoeless, rain-drenched film star on location appears at his lodging in Sligo, Ireland. On his arrival, he discovers a home with three feisty sisters, a poetry-quoting father and an eccentric grandma who sings show tunes. This American Premiere is a funny, modern, intoxicated tale of love, loss and family.
