The Legendary punk rock band the Ramones has had its fair share of tragedy in the past few years. Most recent is the loss of Linda Stein who co- managed the band with rock journalist Danny Fields during the 70s. This was during a time when the band was at the height of its popularity. Stein started her career as a schoolteacher and wound up marrying Seymour Stein who was the long time president of Sire Records, the longtime label of the Ramones. After divorcing Seymour and managing the band Linda went on to become one of New York’s top real-estate brokers. She has sold houses to the likes of Tom Cruise and Madonna. She continued to sell homes to Hollywood A-listers until her mysterious death. According to the New York City medical examiner’s office, Stein, 62, was found beaten to death in her Manhattan apartment on Tuesday, October 23, 2007. TimesSquare.com spoke with Stein almost 1 year prior to her death at the closing of CBGB’s, the famous punk rock club where the Ramones played most of their early shows. Watch our video interview above to hear what she had to say about her days as the punk rock manager and the third chapter of her life.
